Fast forward 30 years...

Don't they look like a married couple watching TV on a Friday night?

Being a toddler is rough.

CLEARLY, this is my son.

And he's his grandma's grandson. No one loves raw cookie dough like us! Noah slyly pretends to help stir with the big black spoon, but we soon realize that his motives are not completely altruistic :)

You will also see that he quickly signs and says "more"!

A renewed blog and a new blog

Hi everyone,

I've had my blog set to private due to a frightening experience a friend had when she found pictures of her son taken from her blog and used in an inappropriate way. After having Darren check all of our previous blogs and finding that none of our pictures have been messed with, I decided to open it back up for public consumption. This makes things much easier for those of you that have had to sign in every time you visit.

Also, after prodding from Darren (over the last three years!) I am starting a blog that will simply be a place for me to share things that make me think, inspire me, encourage me, or maybe provoke me. It will be a bit of a preaching outlet of sorts and one that I hope will touch, inpsire or maybe even provoke a few others :)

The name of the blog is "Kairos for Charis - finding the magnificent in the mundane".

Kairos for Charis simply means "Time for Grace" - click on the title to go there and feel free to put a link to it from your page.

Big Boy!

Noah is chillin' on the couch watching Handy Manny cartoons on his iphone :) He can now unlock the phone, go to ipod, then video, then click on the cartoon. He is amazing, of course. Some may shudder that he is even allowed to hold such a possession.... but actually he is quite careful, never calls 911 and rarely calls anyone else. It's been a nice distraction when I need one :)

Lose 3 lbs on the Starbuck's pumpkin loaf diet!

Last Wednesday Jennifer and I went to see The Debaters (awesome movie!) Before entering the theater, as per tradition, we stopped at Starbucks. I purchased a grande latte and a slice of pumpkin loaf. Throughout the movie I took my time snacking on my loaf - I kindly offer some to Jenny but she turns me down (lucky HER!) By the end of the movie the loaf is gone... and I'm starting to feel a little... well... funny. I went straight home hoping to get right to bed and sleep off whatever was happening - if only it was that easy.

From 10:30pm until 5:30am, I was sicker than I have been in many years (since I had food poisoning in 97'). It was so bad that at one point I texted Darren from the floor in our bedroom asking him to bring me a blanket because I literally could not stand up to get into bed and had to stay on the floor! Poor me! My wonderful husband kept his phone handy and slept downstairs, ready to get me anything I needed. I slept from 3:30 to 4:00 am and that was about it. I guess you are getting the picture.

I thought I'd be fine the next day but I still couldn't really get out of bed or stand up. There was no way I could care for Noah so Darren canceled his work meetings and stayed home. It continued through Friday! Just overall malaise and queasiness. Yuck.

I'm happy to say that I am all better now and eating normal, and have most likely put those 3-4 pounds back on. I called Starbucks to let them know, though they didn't seem super interested. Oh well, I hope no one else got whatever I got!

I don't see what the fuss is all about.

Toddlers are easy. I never have any problem getting ME time.

***disclaimer: Noah climbed in and closed the door on his own. I, being a good mommy, ran for the camera. No animals or children were harmed during filming.

Who's the lucky girl with a hottie husband?

Me!

Sick. Wah.

Ugh. I'm laying here on my bed and I can't breathe. I sound like what an actor might sound like if told to "talk like you have a cold, where your n's are d's, etc." I should be thankful that I'm getting off easy. Compared to what Darren had last week this isn't so terrible. He was sicker than I have EVER seen him. I came home one night to find him lying (laying? which one IS it?) in front of the fireplace shivering - bad sign. For the next 5 days he pretty much stayed in bed... I wish I would have gotten a picture of the projector TV he had going on in our room - we don't have a TV in there so he used a projector from work and put the image up to cover the entire wall. Part of me wondered if all of the sick hoopla wasn't just a ploy to watch the playoff game on a big screen...

Noah and I both got our flu shots so we seemed to be safe. However, until they come up with a "cold shot" we are still in danger. Both Noah and I have terrible colds. The poor little guy... I can at least take Nyquil at night and some Afrin, he just gets aspirated and a little Dimetapp. He is coughing up a storm so we can't see any of our playdate friends, and this is the week I was supposed to be helping my parents move from Fremont to Manteca - but we just can't seem to get out from under this stuff! Hopefully things will improve by the weekend.

S000, I'm bored and the news is too depressing and I don't have a myspace or facebook account to troll around. So I thought I'd blog.

Noah's Place - complete with flat screen TV

Okay, so this house that Noah got for Christmas is awesome... He LOVES it! Every day he takes me by the hand and brings me in to sit by the tiny table. Then he says "bye bye", shuts the door, takes some keys, his shopping cart, puts one of my shoes on his feet and takes off towards the kitchen. He soon returns with a joyous "helloooooo" and uses his key to "unlock" the doorknob. Sometimes if I'm lucky he'll bring me a plastic carton of milk or a play can of soup. Repeat.

As you can see we made some improvements on it recently, like adding the flat screen TV - the old skool boob tube just wasn't cutting it. You can also see that daddy doesn't fit quite as well as mommy, and Noah is pretty insistent that your feet are inside the house when he shuts the door ;)

I love this picture

I love this picture... I love it because to any outsider it is quite obvious that I adore my husband :) The look in my eyes and the smile on my lips - I love how it captured that emotion so beautifully.
