Happy Halloween!

He obviously takes his job very seriously...

And this is what we had to give out this year thanks to my gestational diabetes. We only got ONE trick or treater so I was thankful I only bought one bag of candy. I gave it all away to Jennifer before she left our house...

Can there be too many goth fairies?

Um, YES. Seriously tween girls, lighten up!

And creativity goes way beyond striped tights, a tiny black miniskirt, and some wings.

Noah and Daddy

So this is how Darren and Noah spend their time while mommy is away! Watching football and car shows - at the same time!!

Don't you love the side combover?

Oh baby!

Just a shot of my ├╝ber cute nephew Lucas :). I'm in Seattle visiting my sister in law and her husband - what a cutie! I can't believe I'm just a few months away from the sleepless nights and crazy days - Lord have mercy!

Welcome to my new world...

Well, I learned last week that I have gestational diabetes. This means that my body is not using its insulin very well. It happens to a small percentage of women around the 28th week of pregnancy and usually goes away after the baby is born.

Lucky me.

Because my insulin isn't working properly, I have high blood sugar. This extra glucose can be dangerous for my pregnancy, and even moreso for my little girl's health. Since my insulin isn't dealing with my blood sugar, my little baby's pancreas is trying to create enough insulin to help. Not good for a tiny little pancreas! If uncontrolled, her organs will be stressed, her lungs can be affected, she can weigh 10 lbs, or can have problems after she is born.

All of that leads me to this:

My blood testing kit with lovely red hazardous container

Ouch! I have to test 4 x's a day...

Did I mention - OUCH?!

This is a good result - 162, like this morning, is bad.

In addition to the blood testing, there's the strict diet. I have to eat a specific amount of carbs and protein every meal, I have to eat specific snacks, and I have to eat on a specific time table. It is a bit overwhelming... THANKFULLY, I have the most amazing and supportive husband in the whole entire world - and he is doing it all with me :) He even pricked himself a couple of times! He ain't playin' - he doesn't cheat and counts all the carbs, etc. too. He helps me figure out what to eat and just all around encourages me.

Lucky me.

Noah and daddy go to Legoland!

Darren took Noah down to southern California to hook up with his best friend Tim and his two boys. The road trip was fun and Legoland was even MORE fun! Darren said Noah was such a good boy the whole trip. He was even excited that he got to go night-night in mommy's car (they left Castaic at Noah's bedtime). I enjoyed the trip as well :) I got stuff done around the house, used a gift certificate for a facial at a nearby spa, and simply enjoyed "me" time. I love having such a capable husband who is also a really, really good dad.

How you ride if your dad's a computer geek

He's a lucky little guy... who else can watch "Cars" while cruising through Lowes? Darren is so cool.

Meet little Miss Rogers

Here are our 3D pics taken of the little one... we think she really looks like Noah in the first one! In the third one she has her eyes open - so cool, in a creepy kind of way... We think she's beautiful :)

A broad stroke of my blog

Kelly posted about this page called Wordle, where it takes any text or blog and puts together an artistic representation of the most used words.

Here's mine from the current front page of my blog - you'll have to click on it to make it bigger.

Gardening with Genny

Jennifer planted some beautiful flowers in front of her house and she takes very good care of them. Whenever Noah visits, he likes to take care of them as well. Here he is watering... the flowers? Well, sort of...

Here he is watering his car...

and the sky...

and himself...

and finally... some flowers :)

Enjoying the fruits of his labor...

The future church :)

Darren's dad sent us these great pictures of Noah from when we were in Vancouver over the summer. He pointed out that he looked like he was leading worship and then preaching a sermon - and I agree!

Opening the service in prayer

Spending some time in worship

Speakin' Truth about Jesus

Maybe a peek into his future?
